Though I was raised in a devout Christian home, I did not become a Lutheran until later in life. Some people say that converts make the best Lutherans. Whether or not this is literally true, I know from personal experience the great joy and comfort that my wife and I experienced when we first heard the pure preaching of the Gospel and were taught a right understanding of the Sacraments. In addition, we came to love and cherish the historic liturgy and robust hymnody of the faithful Lutheran church, especially because we had lived most of our lives without these treasures. As a result, I find particular joy in helping others to recognize and embrace the precious gifts that our Lord gives to us through His holy Word and Sacraments.
